Colavita/Sutter Home’s Alejandro Borrajo Sprints to Second

Colavita/Sutter Home sent its decorated criterium squad including Alejandro Borrajo, Luis Amaran, Luca Damiani, Davide Frattini, Sebastian Haedo, Tyler Wren, Gustavo Artacho, and the defending race champion Kyle Wamsley to contest the 25th annual racing of the Chris Thater Memorial Criterium. One by one the Colavita/Sutter Home men initiated threatening breakaways during the first half of the 40-lap race. Each separation forced opposing teams to chase them back. A mid-race separation containing two riders created the perfect opening for Alejandro to bridge across. The break swelled to eight of the field's fastest sprinters and Alejandro took 2nd in the breakaway's final sprint.  He was followed by teammate Kyle Wamsley, who won the bunch sprint for 9th.
