Colavita/Sutter Home Men’s Cycling Team Captures 15th Individual Victory
Rosters Announced for Commerce Bank Triple Crown
photo: Kurt JambretzLinden, NJ (June 2, 2008) -- Italian sprinter Luca Damiani captured his first North American victory at the 2008 CSC Invitational in Arlington, VA, bringing to 15 the total number of individual victories for the Colavita/Sutter Home Men’s Cycling Team presented by Cooking Light.
“Having the red, white, and green train lined up in front of me was all I needed today,” said Damiani after his winning podium presentation. “It was such a motivating experience.”
Colavita/Sutter Home riders Luis Amaran, Gustavo Artacho, Anibal Borrajo, Davide Frattini, Andy Guptill, Sebastian Haedo, and Kyle Wamsley took the lead from Damiani, who initiated a break away just three laps into the 100-lap event. With one lap to go, Colavita/Sutter Home launched the powerful lead-out train that has produced a victory or podium placement in nearly every major criterium so far this season. The squad flew through the final two corners of the technical circuit to deliver Damiani straight into a full-throttle sprint across the finish line, with teammate Amaran following in fifth place.
In the women’s race at the CSC Invitational, Andrea Dvorak of the Colavita/Sutter Home Women’s Cycling Team presented by Cooking Light made her first NRC podium appearance of the season with a third place finish.
With back-to-back victories at the CSC Invitational and last week’s Tour of Somerville, the Colavita/Sutter Home Men’s Cycling Team is well-positioned to contest cycling’s “Triple Crown,” the three-race series sponsored by Commerce Bank which begins on June 3rd in Allentown with the Commerce Bank Lehigh Valley Classic.The roster for the Colavita/Sutter Home Men’s Cycling Team will include:

Five-time US National Criterium Champion Tina Pic will lead the Colavita/Sutter Home Women’s Cycling Team presented by Cooking Light at the Commerce Bank Triple Crown. She will be joined by Andrea Dvorak (USA), Shontell Gauthier (USA), Nichole Wangsgard (USA), and Iona Wynter Parks (JAM) for the Commerce Bank Lehigh Valley Classic in Allentown on June 3rd and the Commerce Bank Reading Classic on June 5th.
Alison Powers, who recently finished second in the fourth stage of France’s 2008 Tour de l'Aude Cycliste Féminin riding with the US National Team, and Tiffany Cromwell (AUS), winner of the 2008 Sea Otter Classic, will line up with the squad for the Commerce Bank International Championship in Philadelphia on June 8th.
