Race Report by Kirsten Robbins

Tyler Wren of the Colavita/Sutter Home Men’s Cycling Team presented by Cooking Light captured third in the inaugural Bank of America Wilmington Grand Prix. The core criterium squad including Andy Guptill, Davide Frattini, Anibal Borrajo, Tyler Wren, Gustavo Artacho, Sebastian Haedo and Luca Damiani lined up ready for what turned out to be a highly aggressive 45-mile criterium. A large early break succeeded to the finish that included Tyler, Anibal, Luca and Davide along with 10 other riders. Colavita/Sutter Home committed to a series of attacks to shed the weaker riders in the break and better the odds in favor of a team victory.  With five laps to go, the breakaway split in half with Anibal in the leading group. With little organization, the lead group slowed enabling some of the chase group to bridge across to the leaders for a sprint finale. Working together to contain the flurry of attacks on the last lap, the Colavita/Sutter Home breakaway riders successfully positioned themselves for a podium placing.
