2008 Sea Otter Classic
Monterey, CA
April 18-19, 2008
Race Report by Kirsten Robbins

The Colavita/Sutter Home Women’s Cycling Team presented by Cooking Light made a clean sweep at the 2008 Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, CA. With representatives of the team’s major sponsors on the sidelines cheering, victory was particularly sweet as Colavita/Sutter Home veteran Dotsie Bausch took advantage of the moves set up by teammates Tina Pic and Nichole Wangsgard that allowed Tiffany Cromwell to string out the field in the Sea Otter SRAM Road Race on Friday, April 18th.  Dotsie made the drive to the finish with a finishing kick, giving her a few bike lengths.  Tiffany followed in 4th, Nichole in 5th, and Shontell Gauthier in 7th.

On Saturday, April 19th, Tiffany Cromwell took the top honors at the Sea Otter SRAM NRC Road Circuit Race -- her second consecutive solo victory and first NRC win of the season. The women lined up to compete on 22 laps of California’s Laguna Seca raceway, the Nascar course notorious for its early steep climb followed by the exhilarating corkscrew descent that wraps itself back around to the start/finish line. Tiffany and teammate Dotsie Bausch launched themselves into a six-rider breakaway early in the event. Tiffany took advantage of a teammate on hand and leapt off the front to gain a maximum of one and half minutes on the chase group.  In the men’s race, Anibal Borrajo was the top finisher for the Colavita/Sutter Home Men’s Cycling Team presented by Cooking Light in 6th place; his brother Alejandro followed in 8th.
